I have tried to paint the clear plastic grill, by masking the recessed areas with 1mm tape, and airbrushing carefully with flat black.
But two times now when I pull up the masking tape...very slowly... it still damages the edges where black paint is. Some places look smooth, other places look terrible.

Are there any tips or secrets to getting good lines on that the grill?

I did the same method with mine. I found that if you really press that tape in with your fingernail it worked better. It was still kind of a tough thing to paint for sure.
