A bit of yesterday evening and today's work. I've got the bottom hull exterior primed with gray and the inside window and deflector masks have been removed. This part is ready for refinement work. There is a rough section on the starboard side of the lower hull section that's going to need some sanding.

I've done some more work on the base as well. The cover panel has been further sanded and now falls off without any effort as it should. The switch has been wired to the battery clip and tested and is ready to install in the base. The battery area has been further sanded with my Dremel since the battery didn't quite fit when the switch was installed. I've got the first coat of finish on the base and I've got to say, in person, it's looking really nice!

Just a little bit of progress this evening on the 1:677 Nova Class Project. First steps towards lighting! I've attached the leads to the small wires I embedded in the pylon cast. I realized quite quickly that if I didn't take care of this now, I'd be in a world of trouble soon. I've started alterations on the bottom parts of the nacelles where the nacelle mounting points are, so that the pylons will fit with the nacelles, and that the wiring will fit through. Next I'll mask the nacelle bottoms for interior light blocking coats, and then I'll get the primer on the exterior!

Nova Class Project Update #4: This update sees lots of refinement work on the upper and lower hull sections. Work has been done on the pylons and the nacelles, prepping them for installation. And the base is completed!

Showing my work, and the foibles - 1:677 Nova Class Project... Got first coat of Alclad blue on the chiller grills. There's an air bubble in the grill and I didn't realize how badly it would show, especially with some light thrown behind. So I'll be re-casting this part during my Sunday night YouTube Live and hopefully I get a nice casting that I'll be able to use!

I'll be going live on YouTube Sunday night at 9:00pm - Here's what I'm hoping to accomplish:

1) Re-cast upper nacelle (current casting has a nasty air bubble that's visible in the chiller grill.
2) Drill the post hole in the underside of the lower hull section.
3) Install the post mount system in the lower hull section.
4) Install the warp nacelle pylons to the upper hull section.
5) Pull the nacelle cast from the mold poured earlier in the live stream.

More work tonight on the 1:677 Scale Nova Class Starship Project: The first of 2 nacelle pylons has been installed. The nacelle is just pressure fit onto the pylon for reference and not permanently installed. There was some epoxy leak at the seam, and will need to be cleaned up. Seam will also need much putty to meld it into the hull. This is still in the rough ugly stage at the moment and needs much more refinement before its ready for base colour coat.

New video update on the project will be coming out later today after a good night sleep!

My work tonight on the 1:677 scale Nova Class Starship project has taken it further into ugly mode! Initial sanding of the apoxy sculpt done. Working to meld the pylons into the upper hull section and cleaning up some other random casting defects. Now it needs another coat of grey primer to reveal what further refinement needs to be done. (Apoxy, sand, prime, repeat)

Continued refinement work on the 1:677 scale Nova Class Starship Project. The sanded Apoxie Sculpt has been re-primed and now shows all the areas that need further work. Grey primer is great for showing you the work you still need to do!

1:677 scale Nova Class Starship Project progress... still in ugly stage. The melding of the pylons to the upper hull section is coming along. The first pictures are the results of several rounds of sanding and priming. The last two pictures are the next round of putty. Only one side of the join is still visible so hoping this round of putty will smooth that out. I haven't started working on the under pylon area, as I'll probably work on that section once the lower hull section is installed.
