Hi all .
Joined this forum a while ago and thought it was high time I got back into this amazing hobby.
So here goes. Already made a start to this project.
As per title i'd like to do an Empire strikes back version of the Falcon. My fav movie of all time!

The fundamental difference are alot more lights, the gaining of the two extra landing gear and landing gear bulkheads. Also the lower maintenance pits are different.

The cockpit is also different compared to the ANH version but luckily The kit comes with an empire cockpit already.....

I bought the parts needed from shapeways.com .

Obviously this has turned into a money pit... >_< so hope I dont fluff this up..

Printed parts dry fitted

Parts Tacked in place with CA glues then epoxied. I used previously cut hull material to re-dress the maintenence pits. Also a good blast of primer.

Cheers for now :)

Day off work . Woot! And with this lockdown. It's a good time to get modelling :D
The ESB version has alot more lights. I'll be making my own lighting kit.

Upon studying the movie the Falcons headlights are sometimes Red and sometimes Clear so I have installed two Bi colour 3mm LEDs.

Added strip LEDs for rear engine With a ramp up and flicker effect. Using an Arduino nano.
The Youtube video does'nt do it justice but you get the idea :D

Using 3mm LEDs sanded flush to hull for landing lights and 5mm LEDS used in a 10mm hole for the Well lights. I put the Well 5mm Leds in bulb holders from an old AMT kit.

Let there be light

Wiring using velo boards to keep it reasonably tidy.

That's me up to date. Next I'll be adding the small red warning lights using 2mm leds. These will be masked down to 1mm And I may add a 3D printed clear part too...

Cheers for now

Looks great!

What parts did you get from Shapeways - just the additional landing gear/bulkheads?

Thanks Ross. I bought the Maintenace pits and bulkheads. I may get the Actual landing gear too. Not sure If i will display as a landed diorama or in flight mode.....
Also Not sure how I will power this one. External power supply or internal battery.. If I do a diorama I could disgiuse the power cable in a fuel supply pipe. i like the idea of chewie doing some welding like in the Hoth base scene...Hmmm

Glad to see you back on this one!

I personally don't have the guts to convert a PG Falcon to ESB. I have a Fine Molds kit for that, but this is looking awesome!

Cheers
